In an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, Maahek Nair who has been training Bollywood celebrities such as Shraddha Kapoor, Sushant Singh Rajput, Aditya Roy Kapur and Kartik Aaryan among others revealed some tips and tricks that one can follow to torch down the abdominal fat.

She started off her answer by revealing how in olden days, people were not really fat as they used to do a lot of labour work. Now, we have a sedentary lifestyle, we sit a lot, we are busy watching TV and especially cellphones. And in order to lose belly fat, one has to follow the right nutrition and keeping moving is the key. She said, “You have to set a daily target of about minimum 10,000 steps, and nowadays, there are many fitness gadgets and monitors that are available, so one can go for a pedometer which can help you to know what is your daily step count is, so if you do 10,000 steps a day then the same is equal to one hour of workout.”

She added, “So people should have a minimum target of 10,000 steps per day. And apart from this, one should indulge in a workout for 3-4 times a week. If you are a beginner then you can start off with yoga or pilates, once you are good with that then you can move on to strength training workout which includes compound movements wherein the calorie burning would be more.”

She also spoke about the importance of a good diet in losing belly fat. She opined, “People have to incorporate good foodstuff such as coconut oil. avocados, green leafy vegetables and a basic amount of protein. One has to cut down the carbohydrates intake if they want to lose abdominal fat. Also, I would like to say that there is nothing called spot reduction as it is all about body fat percentage. Example, if there are two people of the same weight if one person is having more muscle and other fat then they will completely look different.
